About Me

My Approach To Art
I produce and create two dimensional artist mediums using watercolors, acrylics, oil paints, oil pastels, lost wax batiks, gouache, pen & ink, graphite, Prismacolor colored pencils and metallic gel pens. My three-dimensional works include: terracotta sculptures, alabaster, soapstone, and sandstone slab bas reliefs. My artistic style is a form of visual storytelling in the tradition of my Navajo ancestors. Often, I incorporate Navajo symbolism and cultural icons. The resulting art creations are a combination of years-long learning of mediums and techniques. The resulting style is uniquely mine. I produce art with no formal training but by trial and error. I have also gained much training from a host of professional and traditional artist-mentors. I have been a professional artist for 34 years. Currently, I have dual residency in Albuquerque, NM, and Cudei, NM. My other hobbies that lead to professional interests include ethnographic botany, medicinal herb culture, growing nursery grade plants and seed collecting. Wearing multiple hats gives me experience as a sustainable agricultural consultant and landscape designer. I was previously employed as a professional nursery production grower. As for my art, my work is currently sought by novice as well as discerning collectors alike. Acquisition by museums and private collections remain the staple side of my career, I currently enjoy. Highly regarded by my peers in art, I have gained respect within the community. Many awards have earned me notoriety nationwide. I hope to market art internationally, in time. Another of my creative outlets is writing short stories.
